Once a main route to the coast above the village of Yarlington where I live. King George III passed this way on his way to Sherborne when Yarlington House was being built. He is reported to have exclaimed "who would want to build a house on this blasted heath"! Today the fine brick house, home to Count and Countess de Salis, is set in parkland with fine gardens and is often used for wedding parties.
