On cold mornings in summer and autumn, the river Stour is an endless source of imagination. Children have captured pirates, dogs have pursued ducks and the mist provides even more mystery. I love the unexplained and evocative nature of the mist as it rises , swirls and then disappears.

Chalk streams and rivers are fast flowing and often (hopefully) clear. River weed collects readily and follows the flow of the water. I like to think this painting captures the very English nature of our chalk streams, on a hot summers day.
