Since first being able to hold a crayon Kate is at her happiest drawing and painting in her garden studio. Her work features elements of the landscape: trees, rocks, ruins and reflections in water. The emphasis is on colour, light and composition using layers of paint and glazing. The work is in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, gouache, oil and dry pastels. Through the process of creating paintings, often combined with the difficulty of expressing feelings about the subject the result is in a rich tapestry of colour and texture. Kate's aim is for the viewer to sense the passion, joy and vitality of her work. .
Kate gained a Diploma in Graphic Design at Canterbury College of Art followed by courses in Fine Art and colour work. She’s exhibited paintings since 1980, designed home accessories, and recently been tutoring and running workshops.
